EXCHANGE

I have had the opportunity to participate in various exchange programs in many countries since I was in Grade 4. These include both long-term and short-term programs.

In Grade 4, I joined a two-week STEM program in Taiwan, which was my first international exchange experience. The following year, in Grade 5, I traveled to Malaysia for another two-week STEM program. These programs gave students the opportunity to visit local universities and learn about science through hands-on experiments in the lab.

During the summer break in Grade 7, I participated in a one-month exchange program in Italy through CISV. I traveled with eight friends, and it was my first time flying to Europe.I stayed with a host family in Italy for two weeks, and then an Italian exchange student came to live with my family for the remaining two weeks. While in Italy, I spent most of my time with my host family, which allowed me to experience their daily life, traditions, and culture up close. Through the program, we visited many places around Italy and learned about the country’s culture and way of life.

In Grade 10, I got the opportunity to go to Germany through the Rotary exchange program. My goal is to learn a new language and gain new life experiences. I believe that living in Germany will teach me to be more independent, adaptable, and confident.I chose Germany because I’m interested in studying at a university there in the future. Before going, I’ve already started learning German and discovered that I really enjoy learning new languages. I believe that being able to speak multiple languages is a valuable skill, especially in today’s global world. I will be staying in Germany for 10 to 12 months and living with a host family, which will give me a chance to fully experience the culture and improve my language skills. I believe this experience will help me become more open-minded and better prepared for studying abroad in the future or working in an international environment.
